If you're having trouble with your Flic or ROV scanner you got from us, try the following steps. We just revamped our scanning code.
The first thing you need to do if you haven't done so already is to install the latest update (2.3.3) which we released last night. This changes how the scanner works and drastically improves the experience (we hope!)
Then go into Bluetooth Preferences in System Preferences and look for your scanner in the left-hand 'devices' column. It should be called 'Cordless', or it will have a long string of numbers and be labelled as a 'Peripheral'.
If you find your scanner in there, remove it using the (-) button.
Then launch Delicious Library 2 and select 'Enable Bluetooth Scanning' from the 'Library' menu in the menu bar. This will bring up a panel which should show a picture of your scanner and will tell you to push the button on the scanner briefly. After this, your scanner will be paired with your computer, and will be ready to scan.

I think we finally figured out what the problem is. Go into your Delicious Library 2 folder, which you'll find in your home folder here: ~/Library/Application Support/Delicious Library 2. And you should see a file ending in .journal. Drag this file out of the folder, and then launch Delicious Library 2. It should run as normal. If you don't have a file ending in .journal, send me a screenshot of the contents of that Delicious Library 2 folder so I can see what else you've got in there.
My apologies for this taking so long--we weren't able to figure out the problem until we got ahold of a machine which was experiencing the problem.

Terry Phillips replied on September 23, 2009 00:02 to the question "1.7 - Will it ever work?" in Delicious Monster:
Unfortunately because Amazon is requiring all data requests to be time stamped as a new security measure, we're encountering some issues with the older operating systems (namely, 10.3). The problem is that the date and time formats that we need in order to use the time stamps (which we have to use in order to work with Amazon at all), just don't exist in OS 10.3. They weren't added until OS 10.4 (Tiger).
That means if you're running OS 10.3, I just don't have a good solution for you. I'd be happy to either refund your money, or to upgrade to Delicious Library 2 for free, but Delicious Library 2 does require OS 10.5 or higher to run.
We'd love to be able to address each and every bug, but unfortunately at some point we have to stop supporting older technologies and embrace the new. Sadly this means we have no choice but to make some people unhappy--but we want to do everything we can to avoid this.
If you're running Mac OS 10.3 and can no longer use Delicious Library, please email me directly at terry {at} delicious-monster {dot} com and I'd be happy to see if we can come to a resolution.

Terry Phillips posted an update in Delicious Monster on July 29, 2009 03:47:
Third beta's a charmNow that we've moved the company down to sunny (hah!) San Francisco and we've got most of our stuff out of boxes (or at least hidden in closets), we're back to improving Delicious Library 2!
Tonight we released Delicious Library 2.2 beta 3 which contains some major improvements over Version 2.1.
Mainly, DL 2.2b3 is now compatible with Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6)--something we thought might be useful with the new OS coming out soon.
In addition, after August 15th, Amazon is requiring all users to use signed requests. We've included code in 2.2b3 to meet these new security requirements so that users can continue to look up items in Delicious Library 2. This means that if you do not update to Delicious Library 2.2, you won't be able to scan in or search for any new items. The only way you'll be able to enter new things will be to type in all the information by hand (who wants to do that--update!)
Last (that I'm going to mention here) but not least, we've fixed the largest (but still rare) crasher in 2.x--the "recommendations" bug. The handful of you who experienced this bug should no longer be plagued by the annoying crashing. Sorry about that.
Just an FYI, we are still offering a $100 reward to anyone who finds a regression bug in the current beta that we feel is important enough to fix. That means if you find a bug in this beta that wasn't present in the last 2.x release, we'll send you a check for $100. It's pretty easy--I found one yesterday. If you think you've found one, select 'Send Bugs and Feedback' from the Help menu and title the bug report "REGRESSION (beta build)". We'll check it out and get back to you about it ASAP.

Terry Phillips replied on June 19, 2009 23:59 to the question "ROV scanner not staying connected to computer!" in Delicious Monster:
@Christopher,
There are some incompatibilities between some bluetooth mice and the scanners. If you disconnect the mouse will it pair and operate correctly?
What kind of mouse is it?
@Murray,
Have you tried scanning the reset barcode in the scanner QuickStart manual?
The scanners come with the old RS-232 cables, which are all but obsolete on modern Macs. Because of this we remove them from the box to make shipping a little cheaper and prevent confusion (we were getting a ton of support questions from people trying to figure out how to plug in the old cable.) You can buy an USB cable from Microvision to update the firmware, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Thanks to @dmmueller, we installed and tested DL2 with LLC running, and this is indeed the source of this frustrating problem. It turns out they dynamically insert their code into every running program, including Delicious Library 2.
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/494...&cl=us,en
They did this in such a way as to break the app (by defining their own- [NSString containsString:], which overrides ours and messes with the formatting--SO CLUMSY! Irritating at best.
We have worked around this problem in 2.1, so at that point you'll be able to run LLC AND have correct formatting in DL2. Yay. Sorry for the trouble everyone, and thanks again, dmmueller, for tipping us off to the source of the problem.
