Fred Duck replied on November 22, 2009 02:30 to the question "Delicious Library: A database for books that can't find books." in Delicious Monster:
"If I have 50 books on the top shelf of my downstairs office bookcase, I have to type that in for each book..."
"The only alternative is to type in the location field for each book."
No.
As I said...
http://getsatisfaction.com/deliciousm...
To get the workflow you want, this is what you can do:
1 Make a Shelf
2 Scan set of items (they will add themselves to that Shelf)
3 Select all items on Shelf and fill in the location field
That'll only add about...say, 5 seconds tops per [Shelf].
While yes, it would be nice to have a way to associate DL2 Shelf with the location field automatically, as it stands, it's not as time-consuming as you make it out to be.
Jessie: what they're asking for is the ability to make a DL2 Shelf and have that Shelf tied to the Location field. Probably the clearest way to implement that in-programme is to create a third Shelf type, say "Physical Shelf" or something like that.
Right now, DL2 is modeled on iTunes/iPhoto with its Shelf/Smart Shelf dichotomy. However, while iTunes and iPhoto catalogue AND point to files on the computer, DL2 catalogues physical items. If this hypothetical third shelf type (or something) were created, then DL2 could also "point to" the items automatically.

All your Delicious Library data is saved in this folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Delicious Library
Just save that folder somewhere safe and put it back in the same place after your format.
Your preferences are saved at:
~/Library/Preferences/com.delicious-monster.library.plist
And make sure you have your license written down, just in case.
Finally, I believe you'll need the newest DL 1.7 v11481 available at:

Fred Duck made a comment on "DL2 on iPhone", but it was removed. see the change log

Running 2.3.3 beta 3 (v11679) on 10.6.2.
Hmm. Judging from this and another thread, I expected horrible, flaming death when I clicked on the grey Publish button, but it configured as it should, then quietly published to .mac, surprisingly quickly.
So...can anyone else confirm 2.3.3 beta 3 (v11679) (say that 15 times fast) is working okay for them?
I think part of it is because I'm an olde-tyme iTools user.

Fred Duck started following the idea "Customize Detail panel" in Delicious Monster.
Fred Duck replied on November 14, 2009 13:01 to the question "can I sort manually?" in Delicious Monster:
It's actually sorting alphabetically / numerically according to whatever you pick. (Secondary sort is apparently always creator.)
2.3 changed it so numbers sort human-style (yay!) (1,10, 2, 20, 3 -> 1, 2, 3, 10, 20)
Somewhere between 2.0.7 and 2.3.3, the sort order changed for letters, making sorts case sensitive, so "iLife" now comes after "Zombies" and "KOF" comes before "Kagero."
Fred Duck replied on November 13, 2009 18:40 to the problem "Better handling of Video Game covers aspect ratio" in Delicious Monster:
Well, I guess if all EU / UK cases were blue, it'd (theoretically) be easy enough to get a UK DC case type set but then everyone else would feel jealous. :P Everyone else would need charts to match up which game had what spine.
Once the charts were made, scans would also be needed...
So, the country code stuff is there, which is what lets me stick the Jp SS games in CD cases and the US SS games in SCD cases, but it's not a simple region split for DC stuff. Alas.
Fred Duck replied on November 13, 2009 04:04 to the problem "Better handling of Video Game covers aspect ratio" in Delicious Monster:
Flat black jewel cases are all we can really ask for...The US had black DC, white DC, and <shudder> orange DC spines while the Japanese cases tended to be flat white or custom. Were all UKs/EUs blue?
What I really, really dream of is the ability to display double jewel cases...
I also happen to have Resident Evil (psx) in one of those tall cardboard cases and Tohshinden (psx) in one of those tall plastic cases. Wish I could get those 2 shoved into the SS form. :}
Please send extra pie this way.
I also need to beat Shenmue II (DC). I transferred my save over...did anyone actually get on the boat after x-mas?
VO! I totally need to test my SS twin sticks through the SS -> DC adapter...</shudder>

Managing references to external media: That's what DL2 bills itself as yet people keep requesting eBook support.
Selling via DL2: That's an interesting idea. I never thought of it, but then again, that might be because I've had too many bad experiences with the marketplace.
Friends: Well, just like with any feature, there are always vocal people who use them. I know there are constant calls to implement loan tracking, web tracking, etc.
If you want to get rid of your friends, select them all, hit delete, and when the last one is gone, the category will autohide and it will take up no space at all.

Items not highlighting after add:
Bummer. Hope this comes back soon. However, if you need to find the item right quick, immediately scan it again and it'll zip you to the item.
Can't spot highlight easily:
Yeah, it's pretty tough to find if you've a lot of items on-screen at once. If you make the covers bigger, the highlight will also get bigger. Is that doable?
Publishing panel:
It works again on the latest beta*. If you'd like to try:
http://delicious-monster.com/download...
*At least for Snow Leopard.
Animations and display updates screwed:
I'd try the beta, but if that doesn't work...
Downgrading:
You can do that if you have a copy of 2.2 lying around. You should be able to safely go back down to 2.1 beta (v11409) (June 1, 2009) although I'm not sure if you'd want to go back to a beta that old. :P
Fred Duck replied on November 12, 2009 17:33 to the problem "DL2 crashing due to confusion" in Delicious Monster:
Try holding shift when you start DL2. It should attempt to check & repair the database.
The latest beta can be found here:
http://delicious-monster.com/download...
Deleting the application will not touch your data. :}
Fred Duck replied on November 12, 2009 17:30 to the idea "can't sort in "Stars" column A-Z correctly" in Delicious Monster:
To take a screenshot of just the DL2 window, press command-shift-4. Crosshairs will appear. Press space and it will let you highlight a window. Mouseover the DL2 window and click.
Your screenshot will be saved, likely to the desktop.
Then, you can come back to Get Satisfaction and use the "Add an image" button down there.
Fred Duck replied on November 12, 2009 17:24 to the question "How do I change the number of columns in the Paper Stencil template?" in Delicious Monster:
Please try Delicious Library 2.3.3 beta 3 (v11679) if you're not already.
